Our Volunteers Make a Difference

Do you live in the San Diego region? Do you have a personal connection to organ donation or transplantation? Lifesharing is looking for volunteers to share their story and help us inspire others to register as donors.

Our volunteers are passionate about organ and tissue donation

Lifesharing’s volunteer team is made up of transplant recipients, donor families and healthcare workers — people who’ve witnessed the healing power of organ and tissue donation firsthand. Through their personal stories, our volunteers inspire audiences and spark important conversations. These passionate individuals play an important role in our lifesaving mission.

Volunteer opportunities at Lifesharing:

  • High school outreach: These volunteers deliver educational presentations to local high school students via Zoom or in the classroom. School volunteers follow a script, but they are also given time to share their personal stories. Lifesharing Volunteer 101 training and Lifesharing School Outreach training are requirements to join this program. In addition, a background screening is required.
  • DMV Liaisons: Millions of Californians register as organ donors when they get their driver license. Our DMV liaisons bring critical information to regional DMV offices in San Diego and Imperial Counties, on a quarterly basis. They also answer questions and share their personal stories. These volunteers build strong relationships between Lifesharing and the DMV.
  • Hospital Outreach: Lifesharing works closely with local hospitals when coordinating organ donation. Our hospital outreach volunteers travel to local medical centers with Lifesharing Hospital Development managers. By sharing their personal stories, these volunteers help us educate medical professionals about organ donation and transplantation. Note: Due to COVID-19, our Volunteer Hospital Outreach program currently has very limited opportunities.

We work with volunteers to help them tell their stories
