Student education

Each year, thousands of teenagers head to California’s DMVs and apply for their permits and their driver license.  This is typically the first time these youth are asked whether they wish to become organ and tissue donors. Lifesharing works with teachers across the San Diego region to educate students about the donation process.

Educating students about organ and tissue donation

Our volunteers deliver classroom presentations to 10,000+ students each year, to ensure high school and college students can make an informed decision about whether to register as an organ and tissue donor. These presentations are available in both English and Spanish. It is important to note that when a potential donor is under the age of 18, the final decision is left to the family. By registering at the DMV in California, a teenager can let their families know of their interest in being a donor.
