Danny’s Wings
Danny’s Wings is a program which provides financial assistance to Lifesharing families who would like to purchase a “Hero Butterfly” in honor of their organ or tissue donor hero. The program is named after Daniel Hiser, whose family established the fund in his memory.
Daniel, or “Danny” as he was affectionately known, brought joy into the world with his humor and incredible zest for life. He had a tremendous presence, radiating love and light. At the age of 26, Danny’s light was passed to others through the miracle of organ and tissue donation. His heart, lungs, kidneys, liver and pancreas saved five lives. Danny was the very first organ donor at UCSD Jacobs Medical Center in La Jolla.
After his death in 2017, Danny’s family and friends were determined to honor his giving spirit. The outpouring of support that followed gave rise to “Danny’s Wings” — a beautiful way to help others recognize the donor hero in their family.
The Hiser family says Danny gave happiness and love to everyone he met. He continues to do so through the generous fund that bears his name.
Criteria:
- Family must be in need of financial assistance.
- Donor/Recipient must originate from San Diego or Imperial Counties
